Do you feel you missed your chance to have a healthy, straight smile? Think again because at Lien Orthodontics in Blooming Prairie, MN Braces(also serving Austin, Owatonna, Albert Lea, and Hayfield, MN), Dr. Deborah Lien offers patients of all ages a wide range of braces--from Invisalign or Clear Aligners to traditional metal braces to space maintainers for children. No matter what your smile alignment issue is, Dr. Lien and her team can take care of it and fulfill that life long desire for straighter teeth.

First, there's a consultation

At your initial consultation, Dr. Lien will examine your teeth and gums and take digital X-rays and photos as needed. Just as with children and adolescents, your orthodontic appliances will move your teeth, correcting issues with bite, spacing, tooth rotation and tipping, protruding front teeth and more. The doctor will tell you what your treatment plan can look like and how long it will take.

The consultation includes the choice of braces. While many early and adolescent problems require treatment with metal, ceramic (tooth-colored) or lingual (tongue-side) braces, adults and older teens may qualify for Invisalign or Clear Aligners.

Then, there's treatment

Whatever your care plan, you'll be expected to see your orthodontist for periodic progress checks, adjustments and, in the case of treatment with Clear appliances, to receive your custom-made aligner pairs. As your smile changes, you'll experience some soreness, and you'll maintain careful hygiene practices so your teeth and gums are healthy after treatment ends.

Your finished smile

Usually, Dr. Lien recommends wearing a retaining appliance when treatment ends. This custom-fabricated appliance holds your teeth in their new positions as the underlying bone and ligaments settle down and solidify. Some patients require bonded on retainers, or splints, to ensure their smiles stay straight for the rest of their lives.

Which kind of braces are right for you?

If you are an adult, rest assured that you are not alone in receiving orthodontic correction. One of every five orthodontic patients in the United States is age 18 or older, states the American Association of Orthodontists. If you have a child who needs braces, rely on Dr. Lien for gentle care of their teeth and for creating a smile that they can be proud of.
